I Had a Lovely Day

I cannot remember the last time my birthday has been such an enjoyable day; thank you again to each of you who contributed to that.

The most fun of the day, if I am honest, was the Postie’s visit.  We have several different posties and this week happens to be the turn of Mr Grumps.  Mr G wears his bluetooth headset and plays the music loud in his van oh and he clearly does not like dogs.  When the female posties have to come her the boys get fussed over when it is Mr G;s turn h firstly tries really hard to push everything through the letterbox only resorting to knocking if he has no choice.

This morning he had to knock the door.  Pup likes to get there first, Dog likes to get there first too and I end up tripping over both of them while the peer out of the window to see who it is.  Yes I know I could train them not to do this but actually I like them to make themselves known and visible to callers; anyone who has less good intentions takes a clear step back as the top half of the stable door opens and two furry faces come forward!  So there we are, Mt G outside already standing back; Pup and Dog at the door and me behind them.

I open the door with a cheery good morning, thank you as the mail is tentatively passed to me over two doggy heads.  He is caught out everytime and forced to wish me “good morning ” in return … I will get him to smile when he says it – it just might take me another 5 years!  Sorry I know it is mean to taunt naturally miserable people but hey it’s my birthday why can’t he be nice?

Next up was the dog walk … what a mess!  This is litter blown by the strong winds we have had from a construction site.  If I owned that site my staff would be down the site collecting our rubbish before it got onto someone else’s land.

And no that isn’t loo roll! It is a sort of fabric strip that was holding bundles of material together.

After that I set off for a site meeting at the building I would like to have for Project Tick Tock.  It was everything I expected and so I can move on to the next stage which will be about plans and costs.

A really excellent day and only one fly in the ointment … normally I wouldn’t waste the energy swatting a fly but if I leave it as is then I will appear incompetent! and anyway it is my birthday so I have an excuse …

I had a lovely day and I am finishing it with a big smile on my face …

About nonehpets

I have an interest in how interior design and adapting a home to support living independently for longer can be complementary. The blog Life Long Design is part of an holistic plan for establishing a social enterprise which will offer the people of Tayside opportunities to explore Telecare and the wider scope of assistive technologies. Enabling individuals to make more informed and responsible choices in the care and support they need in their independent living. I am also keen to see public transport more widely adopted and sustainable rural bus services in particular supported. The Blog Travels with a Megarider shares my journey to find serenity in my life as I make that transition form employment to social entrepreneur. One of my methods in increasing serenity is to travel as many miles as I can on a fixed price bus ticket and explore my own local places of interest. Places that I used to go past and had never stopped to look at; places of peace and tranquility; places where I have had some wonderful conversations with complete strangers. I would like to share with you a response to when I described that one paragraph in an e-mail made it sound simple: "Believe me, Cathy, it does not sound simple. You are taking on an incredible challenge for all the right reasons. It is ambitious and admirable - the sort of project that can change lives, including yours." He is right it is ambitious but when did we every achieve anything by settling for the status quo and ignoring what doesn't work for people? So I would welcome your company from time to time on this journey either simply as a reader or if you are brave enough adding your own thoughts to the comments as you feel moved.
