What’s That Fungus?

Fungus

I don’t want to say much about today … Dog got loose from his halter and ran off to greet another dog – went down like a lead balloon even though I had called to say Dog is friendly and just wanted to play.  Got Dog back on lead and Pup decided to grab the bag of poo and rip it open so I have that to rescoop.  Pup then decided he was never ever ever going to do anything I told him to do again and put on his obstinate donkey mask … it was not a fun walk and they brought their attitude home with them.

The worst bit of all that is we then met Fergus who Pup knows but by then Dog was so worked up I wouldn’t let him go and say hello.  Pup did go with my permission, gave him a quick greeting and came straight back.  Fergus’s person was nice about it.  The upshot is I want to exercise them together but if Dog cannot behave he will have to stay home so he doesn’t lead Pup down the wrong paths.

However we did meet this rather lovely fungus in the woods … now I look at the picture lots of things come into my mind – it is a sort of heart shape so perhaps it is a Valentines Fungus? or is it my imagination that it looks like  a pair of uplifted wings?  It also reminds me of one of those paper concertina 3D Christmas decorations – you know the one’s I mean?

I am going to leave you gazing at it to see what you think it most resembles – you can leave a comment if you like I promise not to laugh at your vivid imaginations!  I don’t need to remind you never to eat a fungus you don’t recognise do I?

About nonehpets

I have an interest in how interior design and adapting a home to support living independently for longer can be complementary. The blog Life Long Design is part of an holistic plan for establishing a social enterprise which will offer the people of Tayside opportunities to explore Telecare and the wider scope of assistive technologies. Enabling individuals to make more informed and responsible choices in the care and support they need in their independent living. I am also keen to see public transport more widely adopted and sustainable rural bus services in particular supported. The Blog Travels with a Megarider shares my journey to find serenity in my life as I make that transition form employment to social entrepreneur. One of my methods in increasing serenity is to travel as many miles as I can on a fixed price bus ticket and explore my own local places of interest. Places that I used to go past and had never stopped to look at; places of peace and tranquility; places where I have had some wonderful conversations with complete strangers. I would like to share with you a response to when I described that one paragraph in an e-mail made it sound simple: "Believe me, Cathy, it does not sound simple. You are taking on an incredible challenge for all the right reasons. It is ambitious and admirable - the sort of project that can change lives, including yours." He is right it is ambitious but when did we every achieve anything by settling for the status quo and ignoring what doesn't work for people? So I would welcome your company from time to time on this journey either simply as a reader or if you are brave enough adding your own thoughts to the comments as you feel moved.

http://homeguides.sfgate.com/yellow-tree-fungus-32488.html Have a look at this article and see what you think. We don’t always see fungus in garden trees because people have a habit of moving dead or dying plants but they can be very beautiful. Some actually contribute to the death of the tree and these should definitely be removed. When it comes to fungus expert help is always a good idea. Nice picture whatever it is!

Thank you for the link – I don’t think it is that. I did take pictures of the upperside of one – but the pictures were fuzzy! = which was a smooth dark red colour with a kind of raggy edge. They were on an already dead and fallen trunk … I am going to have to go back and get more pictures …
